Our facility located in Des Plaines, conducts outpatient daily treatment Monday through Friday that provides partial hospitalization for adolescents as well as separate intensive outpatient programs for adults and adolescents. We serve youth between the ages of 11 and 18 and adults aged 19 and up. The programs incorporate skill-based group training in many areas including: dialectical behavior therapy (DBT); cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT); acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT); and creative arts, music, and experiential therapy along with mindfulness skills in grounding, seeking safety, healthy living, self esteem, relapse prevention, positive coping, emotion regulation, shame resilience, grief & loss, and life skills.

Our clinical team works individually with each client and his or her family members to identify and support treatment planning based on personal needs, goals, and level of function. The team also coordinates care with schools and other providers. Families are required to join weekly multi-family group sessions. All programs are run by experienced, caring, and creative team members who offer unique holistic therapeutic services to empower clients and promote their well-being.

The Des Plaines treatment facility borders the cities of Rosemont and Park Ridge, just moments north of O’Hare International Airport. The surrounding neighborhood is rich in natural parks and excellent venues for recreational and sports activities. The office is close to downtown Des Plaines and is easily accessible by public transportation.

MEET THE TEAM

Michelle Shaw, PsyD, LMFT

Michelle Shaw, PsyD, LMFT

Program Director

Michelle Shaw is the Program Director at the Discovery Mood and Anxiety, Outpatient facility located in Austin Texas. Michelle has a Doctorate in Psychology from Alliant International University and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Texas and California. Michelle is also an adjunct professor for the Master’s and Doctorate Psychology programs at California Southern University. She holds certificates in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) evidence-based therapies and has extensive training in resolving crises and providing short-term therapy in an effective manner. Michelle has also had the opportunity to present her research in methods for preventing burnout at multiple professional conferences.
In her current role, Michelle manages the program on a day-to-day basis and oversees all client care.

Michelle’s goal is to provide a welcoming environment to all clients and their families and support them in their journey to leading healthy and happy lives. Michelle has a passion for working in the public mental health setting and specializes in family systems issues and places great importance on multicultural sensitivity and awareness. She also favors experiential approaches to help clients explore their feelings and strengthen family relationships.

Lesley Miller, LMSW

Lesley Miller, LMSW

Primary Therapist

Lesley is a primary therapist at the Austin Mental Health outpatient program. She received her Master of Social Work from the University of Houston, and prior to that graduated with a BA in Psychology from Rice University in Houston, TX. Lesley is passionate about working with individuals healing from trauma, and she has received training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Trauma and Grief Component Therapy for Adolescents. She has also completed training in Trauma and Resilience through the Herzog Israel Center for Treatment of Psychotrauma in Jerusalem, Israel.

Previously, Lesley has worked with survivors of human trafficking and provided individual and group therapy to adolescents and adults with mood and anxiety disorders. Lesley’s approach implements skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, while emphasizing self-compassion and empowerment from a strengths-based perspective. She has a special interest in treating individuals who have hearing loss and other disabilities, drawing from her personal experiences.

Margot Goralczyk, LMSW

Margot Goralczyk, LMSW

Primary Therapist

Margot is a Primary Therapist at the Discovery Mood and Anxiety program for outpatient and partial hospitalization programs. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2017 as a Licensed Master Social Worker. She has her Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Science from Clarion University in Clarion, PA. Margot has worked in a variety of settings ranging from state psychiatric hospitals to hospice care and has a long history of advocating, empowering, and supporting her clients. She comes from a strength-based approach believing that everyone has the ability and strength to heal from within.

Margot values creating a warm and comforting environment in therapy to foster a safe and inviting atmosphere for clients to share their experiences. She values Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Creative Arts, and Somatic Psychotherapy. She has practiced yoga for eleven years and has a desire to become a licensed trauma-informed yoga therapist.
