COVID-19 Update: Online telehealth is offered for intensive outpatient treatment as an option to patients living in California, Florida, Oregon and Texas.

In-person intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization is also offered at this location. Residential treatment continues to be offered at our residential facilities for individuals in need of a higher level of care. Our San Diego facility provides a day-treatment program that offers partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care for adolescents between the ages of 11 and 17. We focus on assisting clients in gaining insight into their individual mental health challenges as well as supporting them and their families in developing new and healthy patterns of thinking and living in their home, educational, and social settings.

Conditions treated include depression, anxiety, attachment disorders, behavioral challenges, autism, bipolar disorder, suicidal thoughts and behavior, and more. The program is administered by six Masters-level clinicians who conduct individual, family, and group therapies aimed at helping clients to develop healthy coping skills. These may involve cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), education to promote emotional literacy, conflict resolution, experiential therapy, mindfulness, creative arts, and process group. We also hold a weekly multi-family group session in which all clients and their families are led through therapeutic activities that improve communication, empathy, and insight in the family unit. Medication management and consultation is offered as needed. The staff also provides educational coordination while young patients are in treatment.

The San Diego facility is centrally located in the Mira Mesa community at the corner of Scranton Drive and Oberline Drive with easy access to the 805 freeway. We are housed in a professional complex across from amenities that include restaurants and cafes.

Kara Kimball, LCSW

Kara Kimball, LCSW

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Kara is the program director at the San Diego outpatient program for Discovery Mood & Anxiety. Kara is a licensed clinical social worker with a passion for working with teens and providing support to families as they navigate adolescence and their own emotional and mental health. In Kara’s free time, you can find her in the mountains or at the beach with her dog.

Hector Velazquez, AMFT

Hector Velazquez, AMFT

PRIMARY THERAPIST

Hector graduated from Azusa Pacific University in 2017 with a masters’ degree in clinical psychology. Hector has lived in San Diego for five years and before moving to southern California, he lived in the Bay Area near San Jose. Hector has worked with teens for 18 years as an aid, has been a history and special education teacher, and has a passion for helping teens learn skills that will help them achieve their academic, emotional and social goals through an eclectic, therapeutic approach.

Corrin Saenz

Corrin Saenz

PRIMARY THERAPIST

Corrin is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and is a Primary Therapist at Discovery. She has 5 years of experience working with high risk youth and specializes in treating depression, anxiety, PTSD as well as youth experiencing relationship conflicts, emotional dysregulation, suicidal ideation and self-injurious behavior. She integrates a trauma-informed approach with evidenced-based practices of CBT, DBT and Solution-Focused therapy with the goal of empowering youth and families to heal. Corrin is passionate about de-stigmatizing mental health treatment and providing a safe and inclusive environment for change-making. When she isn’t at work, Corrin enjoys live music, practicing yoga, spending time with her friends and family and hanging out at the dog park with her shiba inu, Bilbo Waggins.

Adrianne Domingo, ACSW

Adrianne Domingo, ACSW

PRIMARY THERAPIST

Adrianne is an Associate Clinical Social Worker and is a Program Therapist at DMAP’s San Diego Mental Health Outpatient Program. She has over 6 years of experience working with youth and families, and specializes in working with adolescents and families with suicidal ideation, self-injurious behaviors and self-esteem challenges. Adrianne uses a trauma-informed, culturally-competent, somatic-based approach (including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness exercises) with the goal of helping clients identify barriers or obstacles and making changes to what they have control over. Adrianne is passionate about helping clients develop increased self-esteem and motivation in order to reach their highest potential. When she isn’t at work, Adrianne enjoys traveling with friends, going to concerts/music festivals and trying new food!

Jonei OBryant, APCC

Jonei OBryant, APCC

PRIMARY THERAPIST

Jonei O’Bryant is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC), and holds a position at Discovery Mood and Anxiety, San Diego Mental Health Outpatient Program, as a Primary Therapist. Jonei graduated from San Diego State University with a Master of Science in Counseling with a concentration in Multicultural Community Counseling and an emphasis in Social Justice. Jonei has experience in working with youth and specializes in treating complex trauma, depression and anxiety. She uses trauma-focused cognitive therapy, and emotion-focused approaches to engage youth in identifying triggers, manage stress and increase communication skills. Jonei is passionate about helping youth believe in themselves and assertively stand for what is important to them. When she is not working, Jonei enjoys spending time with friends, family and going on spontaneous outdoor adventures.

Darionne Delpino, AMFT, APCC

Darionne Delpino, AMFT, APCC

PRIMARY THERAPIST

Darionne is a registered associate marriage and family therapist (#116356) and registered associate professional clinical counselor (#6994). She has various experience, including working in a residential setting with women with eating disorders, working as a behavioral interventionist for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and co-occurring disorders, providing Applied Behavioral Analysis, and working as a marriage and family therapist trainee at Loma Linda University Behavioral Medicine Center with children with ADHD and other disruptive behavioral disorders. While working as an MFT trainee, Darionne also had the opportunity to provide parent management training and  provide family therapy while under supervision.

Darionne received her Masters of Science from California Baptist University in Riverside, CA, for Counseling Psychology, receiving her Bachelors of Arts from the same institution for Psychology with a concentration in Behavioral Science. Darionne looks forward to work each day, with opportunities to gain new insights and learn from her clients through their work together. She uses aspects of family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy, and a solution-focused approach to support clients in meeting individual goals.

Kacey Klein, AMFT

PRIMARY THERAPIST

Kacey is a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT#113695). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Claremont McKenna College and received her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California. Prior to joining Center for Discovery in October 2019, Kacey worked as a therapist in multiple environments including residential treatment centers for substance use disorders and gambling addiction, community mental health for adults suffering from Psychotic disorders, and with children on the Autism spectrum and their families.

With an empathetic approach to therapy, Kacey knows that each person has unique needs, capacities, and personal stories that impact one’s recovery. Using honest communication to build a personalized, trustworthy connection with clients, she helps them discover their inner strengths and empowers them to find hope for the future. She uses elements of DBT, family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy, and strengths-based therapy to help her clients meet their individual goals. Kacey is also completing her training in EMDR therapy to incorporate into her practice.

Savannah Ingold is the Facility Manager at Discovery Mood and AnxietyShe has her Bachelor’s of Art in Child Development with coursework and research in adolescence from Point Loma Nazarene UniversityShe is a registered yoga teacher with experience and certifications in trauma informed yoga. Savannah has been working with children and adolescents for two years and is passionate about helping them overcome challenges and build mindfulnessWhen Savannah is not at work, she enjoys hiking with her dogs, going to the beach, practicing yoga, and meditation.   

Nicholas Davis

Nicholas Davis

PRIMARY THERAPIST

Nick Davis is an associate professional clinical counselor. He has 8 years of experience working with a variety of populations including teens and older adults and specializes in treating anxiety, and depression . He uses a client centered, DBT based positive psychology – with the goal of helping clients find multiple ways to deal with their mental health concerns in the context of their unique situation. Nick is passionate about mental and physical health, personal growth, and spreading positive energy. When he isn’t at work, Nick enjoys exercising, playing with dogs, and video games.
