The setting for our Fairfax Station facility is a stately home with 6 bedrooms and 7-1/2 baths. Here, we serve young male and female clients ranging in age from 10 to 18. Our treatment program focuses on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills designed to empower clients to develop and exercise their decision-making skills.

This quiet town in Fairfax County is less than an hour from Washington, D.C. The facility is located next to Burke Lake Park just off of Burke Lake Road between highway 123 and Fairfax County Parkway.

CATRINA P. MILLER, NASW Board Member, MSW

CATRINA P. MILLER, NASW Board Member, MSW

THERAPIST

Catrina attended Pikes Peak Community College (PPCC) where she received her Associates of Applied Science (AAS) degree as a social services technician with a certificate of achievement in case management with a minor in anthropology in 2002. She later attended Colorado Technical University (CTU) where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, graduating Summa Cum Laude in August 2006. After that, Catrina attended the University of Southern California (USC) in 2014 and earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree with a minor in military & family. She also holds professional certificates in crime scene investigation (June 2006), law enforcement skills (March 2006), legal studies and court process (June 2006). Her achievements also include two consecutive nominations for the National Dean’s List for academic excellence. 


Catrina has worked with a diverse population which includes adolescents, adults and elderly. Her field of expertise include major depression disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), oppositional defiant disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and bipolar disorder. Catrina specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy, trauma-focused therapy, life skills coaching and much more. She sometimes uses unconventional methods which prove to be highly effective with teens and adolescents. She is committed to seeing the patients become resilient and self-sufficient using the tools that have been provided.

 

Catrina is a certified medication aide in Virginia and a qualified mental health professional who specializes with children in Virginia. She is working towards to become a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW).

Madeline Radigan, RD

Madeline Radigan, RD

DIETITIAN

Madeline is a registered dietitian with the Fairfax Station Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics from James Madison University, and completed her dietetic internship with Be Well Solutions in Ohio. Madeline ensures that all patients have access to a variety of foods that are both nourishing and delicious, while making arrangements for those with food allergies or sensitivities. She works alongside therapists and counselors to support patients in developing and maintaining positive food relationships by practicing mindful eating, honoring the body’s hunger and fullness, and learning the role that food and nutrition plays in our bodies.

FACILITY MANAGER

Natalie is the Facility Manager at Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program in Fairfax Station, Virginia. In 2018, Natalie received her Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice and psychology from Radford University. During the spring semester of 2018, Natalie was an intern at Marion Correctional Treatment Center working directly with male inmates with severe mental illnesses. While at Marion, Natalie gained extensive knowledge of the wide variety of therapeutic approaches, as well as the relationship between the criminal justice system and mental illnesses. Natalie was part of the treatment team at Marion where she was engaged in individual treatment plans which included dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), animal-assisted therapy and exposure therapy. In Natalie’s free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing with her dog Rue and shopping.

Kairen Leverette

PRIMARY THERAPIST

Kairen is a nationally certified counselor serving as a primary therapist and resident-in-counseling with experience in the field of mental health and counseling. Kairen has worked with a diverse population which includes adolescents and adults. Her field of expertise include: adjustment disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), bipolar disorder, conduct disorders, general anxiety disorder, major depression disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Kairen enjoys providing a person-centered holistic approach that encompasses the needs of the patient. 

Kairen is committed to assisting each patient in discovering their resilience by helping them in acquiring the skills needed to live life with maximized potential to allowing them to function at a higher level. Kairen goes by the motto, “Life is a journey, and no one has to be alone while they navigate the path to their true self.” Kairen will walk with her patients on this path as they seek to overcome difficult struggles, hindrances, and stumbling blocks while assisting them in becoming a healthier and happier version of themselves.  

Rebecca Fulmer

Rebecca Fulmer

THERAPIST

Rebecca is a licensed professional counselor who obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and her graduate degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. After working at Devereux and Health Connect America, Rebecca knew she was called to serve teens experiencing mental health concerns. She has been formally trained to work with people of all ages in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with a trauma focus. Rebecca has worked with children and teens with a variety of diagnosis such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and autism spectrum disorder. Rebecca’s experience includes the outpatient, school-based and in-home setting. Rebecca is a strong believer in the biopsychosocial model of treatment as well as including family in the healing process.
