MEET THE TEAM
Robert graduated from Pacific Oaks in Pasadena, California, with a bachelor’s degree in psychology-human development. He went on to continue at Pacific Oaks, and received his master’s degree in marital and family therapy. He is a member in good standing with the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT). Robert is also a clinical staff consultant to the Mental Wellness Network foundation in Ontario, Canada. In addition, Robert is the founder and owner of “just BE you” Life Strategies ~ Coaching.
He has worked in a variety of mental health positions, ranging from program director, lead primary therapist and on-call therapist in multiple settings, ranging from RTC, PHP, IOP, sober living and private practice. Robert’s clinical specialties cover dual diagnosis/co-occurring disorders, depression and anxiety, ODD, sexuality, relationship issues, creative self-expression, narcissism, youth and young adult populations, and parent advocacy.
His theoretical perspectives consist of dual components of his personal/experiential journey combined with his behavioral studies in human development, marital and family therapy, family systems and life coaching as an integrative approach completely tailored on an individual basis per patient. As the program director of Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program Sherman Oaks, Robert’s objective is to continue to help build a multi-dimensional program which re-enforces the four components in our mental health division: individual work, family work, medication management and stabilization, and positive peer culture. Robert combines his passion and motivation to lead and model what Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program strives to promote, which is the well-being of individuals and families in the communities that we serve.
Armando has been working with Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program since August 2018 and is currently facility manager at the Sacramento outpatient program for adults and adolescents. Starting out as a mental health technician, he spent his time working directly with patients and supporting them during their time in treatment. Armando graduated from California State University, Sacramento in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. Currently Armando is pursuing his master’s degree in clinical social work and is set to complete the program in 2022. Armando has a passion for social justice and works to hold himself and others accountable to ensure everyone is provided quality services and treated fairly. In his free time, Armando enjoys being creative through watercolor painting as well as reading manga and watching Netflix.
Chermayne (she/her) is an associate marriage and family therapist bringing years of experience in mental health to her new role. A student athlete her whole life, Chermayne played basketball at Dixie State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. She also graduated from Holy Names University. Chermayne has worked in various mental health settings including residential, school-based and community programs. She has experience working with individuals struggling with mood disorders, trauma and complex trauma, depression and anxiety. In her work, Chermayne utilizes a trauma-focused and strength-based approach, incorporating various modalities including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), narrative therapy and person-centered therapy. She also utilizes evidence-based interventions such as mindfulness, radical acceptance and self-regulation strategies. Chermayne is passionate about working with individuals, children and families on their journey to self-discovery, growth and healing. She values creating a space where individuals can learn more about themselves, overcome barriers and discover who they are without judgement through honesty, integrity, empathy and acceptance. Chermayne is an avid believer in self-care, taking time to recharge and pouring into yourself. She is committed to bringing these values into her work with individuals and families. Chermayne implements these values in her own life by remaining active: hiking, walking her dogs, spending time with family and watching a good Netflix series
COVID-19 Update: Online telehealth is offered for intensive outpatient treatment as an option to patients living in California, Florida, Oregon and Texas.
In-person intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization is also offered at this location. Residential treatment continues to be offered at our residential facilities for individuals in need of a higher level of care.
