MILWAUKEE RESIDENTIAL MENTAL HEALTH DISORDER PROGRAM

Milwaukee, WI

HOME / LOCATIONS / MILWAUKEE, WI

For 25 years, Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program has provided compassionate and evidence-based mental health disorder treatment to those in need. We are pleased to bring this quality care to the DMA facility that’s situated in the heart of downtown Milwaukee. Serving adults of all genders, we are eager to support and work with the people in this region, as well as help anyone coming from Chicagoland, Michigan or across the country.

We are committed to being good partners in the community by building relationships with the patients and their support systems who walk through our doors. And when we recognize that a patient is in need of a higher level of care, we are always willing to collaborate with the expert mental health disorder providers in Wisconsin and surrounding states.

Our 24-bed (12 beds for mental health disorders; 12 beds for eating disorders) residential center in Milwaukee is either walking distance or a simple bus ride from various higher education schools, such as Marquette University, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, Milwaukee School of Engineering and Milwaukee Area Technical College. We understand many young people struggle with mental health disorders, so we want to make it easy on them with being in close proximity to universities. For those traveling from outside the state, we are less than nine miles from Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport.

Building ESTEEM™ with Evidence-Based Treatment

Our Discovery ESTEEM SystemTM provides individualized care to help patients develop the skills and confidence they need to create the life they want. Along with customized care, we employ a variety of evidence-based modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and more. Here, patients benefit from one-on-one therapeutic support as well as group sessions in an encouraging environment of peers where they can safely practice new ways of coping that are transferable to home. Patients are exposed to experiential therapies, which includes music and art, for a well-rounded experience. Lastly, family therapy is also available.

Patients can also expect programs after treatment, such as:

  • Aftercare to facilitate transitions and challenges post-discharge.
  • A customized Discovery app to provide information, resources and a community of support for family members.
  • Discovery alumni online support groups, in-person and virtual events for family members and patients to assist in post-discharge transition and provide an ongoing support system to facilitate long-term recovery.
