From Challenges to Opportunities
Imagine your child starting each day with the capacity to succeed at every turn—connecting with friends, completing homework assignments, engaging with classmates or resolving conflicts with family members. It might not seem possible if they have a history of depression, anxiety or conflict with others. At Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program, we look at the person, not the diagnosis. It’s our job to illuminate a path that turns challenges into opportunities and impart skills that will last a lifetime.

By the Numbers: Mental Health Disorders in Adolescents
When a person has a mental health disorder, it can feel like they are the only one experiencing it. That simply is not the case—many young people struggle to cope and many don’t get help.

Build Your Child’s ESTEEM at Discovery
At Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program for adolescents, patients are treated as a whole person through the Discovery ESTEEM SystemTM. With this system, we use elements such as evidence-based treatment, nutrition, education reintegration and extensive family support, to name a few. We look at young people as the one-of-a-kind individuals they are and create an equally unique path that paves the way for hope, healing and a brighter future.
When the adolescent in your life needs help, take comfort in knowing that we believe healing comes first. We have various levels of care determined after an assessment and based on a patient’s needs:
- Intensive outpatient program (IOP): Patients receive care three hours per day, three to five days per week.
- Partial hospitalization program (PHP): Patients receive care six hours per day, five days per week.
- Residential treatment centers (RTC): Patients receive care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Individual and group therapies are available in these programs. We use trauma-informed treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and medication management, along with experiential therapies like music, art and more.
We also have built in life skills-type aspects of our program. We understand the importance of education and include approximately 20 hours of school time in our School Support Program. Other parts of the program include sessions on how food affects mood, help with filling out job applications or resume assistance, and ideas on incorporating joyful movement into everyday life.
