Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program at Vista is a six-bed residential treatment program for female identifying and non-binary (regardless of sex assigned at birth) adolescents ages 11-17 who are struggling with their mental health. Our program is focused on the stabilization, growth and independence of these teenagers as they find their voice, resiliency and strength in their recovery process. Through their time here working with our treatment team, our goal is for the patients to be able to re-integrate back into home life with healthier, more balanced skills so they can succeed back at home and at school.
We are focused in DBT, CBT, EMDR, CPT, TF-CBT, motivational interviewing, experiential therapy and family systems as we have family involvement and participation as a large component of our program. We have weekly multi-family groups on Tuesdays in which all families and patients participate in, where we go over different topics relating to their child’s mental health treatment. We also have family visits on Saturdays as we want to encourage and promote family time and exposure back to “home life.”
The home is over 6,000 square feet in a secluded and quiet residential neighborhood in North County San Diego. We have a resort-style pool with a built-in slide and water feature/grotto area. We have a garden that we actively nurture in growing different items year-round. The patients participate in equine therapy off-site and also go on therapeutic beach walks. We strive to have everyone’s treatment here individualized and personalized to their own struggles leading them into residential treatment, therefore treatment will be different for each patient. We focus on setting healthy boundaries, effective and healthy communication, and restarting healthy habits as a way to promote longevity in their recovery outside of our program. The patients participate in talk therapy, art therapy, expressive writing, fitness in therapy and music therapy along with many other group therapy activities. On a weekly basis, patients receive medication evaluation and management from our in-house psychiatrist. Patients also meet with a dietitian once a week who promotes healthy and appropriate relationships between mood and food for these young individuals.
The School Support Program is offered to young patients, where an education liaison supervises and supports them through their schoolwork. The education liaison also collaborates with the patient’s therapist to ensure they have the right environment in place for learning, which will in turn help them reintegrate into their school after treatment.
Insurances we accept at this location include but are not limited to Kaiser, Humana, Cigna, and Unicare. Please remember that the insurances we accept change frequently. Our insurance team will verify your coverage.
